In addition to the proposed Medicare regulations that would reimburse providers for time spent discussing end-of-life health care directives, a bi-partisan bill has been introduced in the U.S. Senate by Senator Mark Warner and Senator Johnny Isakson entitled "The Care Planning Act of 2015." It provides for Medicare reimbursement for physician-patient discussions of end-of-life health care planning and provides funds for a public campaign on the issues of aging and end-of-life care decision making. It also provides much-needed support for those who care for the seriously ill.
